Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express (and older versions of Microsoft Outlook) for POP Mail

Note: When following these instructions, please remember to substitute appropriate values in place of the examples used (e.g. replace 'yourdomain.com' with the appropriate domain name).
  1. Start Outlook Express.
  2. Go to the Tools menu and click on Accounts.
  3. Click on the Mail Tab, click Add and select Mail.

  4. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of outgoing messages in the Your Name field and click Next.
  5. Enter your email address (e.g. yourname@yourdomain.com) in the E-mail address field and click Next.
  6. Select POP3 from the incoming mail server dropdown, and enter mail.yourdomain.com in the Incoming and Outgoing mail fields. Then click Next.

  7. In the Account Name field, enter your email address in the following format: yourname+yourdomain.com (using a + symbol in place of the @ symbol). Enter your password in the Password field, and then click Next.

  8. Click Finish.
  9. In the subsequent screen, select the listing for your domain and click Properties.
  10. Click the Servers tab and check the box next to My server requires authentication.

  11. Click OK, then click Close.
