PHP/XHTML Web Contractor

We are interested in smart developers all round, be it permanent developers, graduates or contractors. For those interested in working from home or at our office on their own contract rate, we would like to network with experienced PHP-development contractors. This means that work can be undertaken on a freelance (hourly rate) or pre-quoted basis, subject to the contractor being available at fixed working hours ideally during normal working hours on a full or part time basis.

The successful candidate will be expected to start working on real production websites immediately, and should be able to hit the ground running. We're looking to grow step by step with smart, communicative, detailed to quality, committed and self driven people, to provide intellect to our clients' solutions and gain diversity in expanding our growing company.

The role description is as follows:

Responsibilities:

Design (plan), develop and maintain code for PHP & MYSQL/Postgresql based websites.
Develop websites using XHTML/CSS/Javascript.
Manage and drive projects to completion within deadlines.
Liaise with 3003 Online and 3rd party representatives.
Ensure final web product conforms to W3C accessibility standards.
Develop graphic content for web sites if required (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator).
Depending on experience further responsibilities (relating to project planning and team lead) will be assigned.

Essential Requirements:

At least 2 years demonstrable experience in PHP based web development - this can be previous/current web projects in the past two years - to demonstrate enthusiasm and experience in the web development field.
At least 1-2 years demonstrable experience XHTML/CSS/Javascript - as above.
Strong communication skills (English), particularly written [for email communication with supervisors and clients].
Ability and fluency to hand code using a simple editor tool such as Notepad++.
Enthusiasm in following web standards: W3C accessibility for all tasks regardless of size.
Ability to work independantly and within a small team.
Excellent work ethics - both punctuality and time management skills.
Enthusiasm and ability to plan ahead before development - to think of different developer solutions for a problem and provide adequate information to choose the most feasible one.
Enthusiasm to research new skills to make better up-to-date web solutions.

Desired Requirements:

Experience with PHP Zend framework.
Experience with AJAX development using Prototype framework.
MYSQL/Postgres database experience, including normalised schema design.
Experience with Photoshop.
